Chawri Bazar Computer Centre

Daanish India Foundations runs a Computer center in Chawri Bazaar, Old Delhi for children and even adults of the local community. We believe that Computer Education is essential in today’s technology driven world. Computer literate citizens are more productive, and hence more attractive in a pool of job applicants. 

Number of years: This project was started in 2011 and has been running successfully for over 6 now.

Need of this Project: A survey was conducted in the local community and we found that many students & adults were keen on learning basic computer skills but were not able to do so because of the lack of an affordable computer center. We also found that many older women wanted to take computer courses to match the current skill set in the market.

Target Segment: Children and adults from the local community of Old Delhi (Chawri Bazar, Sadar Bazar)

Courses Taught: MS Word, Ms Excel, Ms Powerpoint, Web Designing (HTML, Javascript, Dreamweaver), Advanced Excel, Tally, C, C++

Medium of advertising: Fliers, Cable TV, Word of Mouth

Monitoring Process: Each student’s performance is closely monitored through a Mid Term and Annual Exam

Impact So Far: Over 1300 students taught so far from the community

Our Teaching Methodology:

·      We teach in a simplified method, stressing on the practical knowledge of computers

·      We teach in small groups of 10, with a student to computer ratio of 1:1 so that every student gets maximum attention and is closely monitored.

·      Our aim to make every student who comes to Daanish, a more technologically adept person so that he can broaden his horizon both in terms of his knowledge and future job prospects.
